Metis Homes Supports Children’s Mental Health Week
We’re proud to be supporting Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 through a lovely community initiative led by Emily, owner of Little Bear’s Bookshop in Alton.
Emily reached out to us about her project to provide Mental Health Book Bundles to local nurseries and schools. These carefully chosen books help children understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop positive coping skills, something we know is incredibly important.
As we continue to build our new 14‑apartment development, The Fourteen, in Alresford, the idea immediately resonated with us. Many of our future residents may have children or grandchildren in the area, and several members of our team also have little ones. Supporting something that nurtures young people’s wellbeing felt like a meaningful way to give back.
The book bundles available cover all age groups, from nursery right through to secondary school, and every book includes a personalised bookplate recognising the organisation that donated it.
We’re delighted to share that Metis Homes has donated a bundle for each age group to schools around Alresford and the surrounding community, helping ensure that as many children as possible benefit from this initiative.
David Oakley, Sales & Marketing Director at Metis Homes, said:
“Children’s Mental Health Week is an important reminder of the role we all play in supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing. When Emily approached us, we immediately knew we wanted to be involved. These books offer practical, engaging support for children across the community, and we’re pleased to contribute to such a thoughtful initiative.”
Emily from Little Bear’s Bookshop added:
“I’m incredibly grateful to Metis Homes for their donation. Every bundle helps ensure children have access to high‑quality books that make a real difference to their wellbeing.”
