Community Relations

Meaningful community engagement isn't about words.  It's about commitment and action.

Metis Homes and 1st Westbourne Scout Group Get Busy Clearing Litter in Emsworth.

Metis Homes recently teamed up with several members of the 1st Westbourne Scout Group for a group litter picking activity on a popular green space off Long Copse Lane, adjacent to the housebuilder’s Harbour Reach development in the coastal village of Emsworth.

The green space, which is well-used by the local community and the Scout Group, made the ideal spot for a litter pick to help keep it clean and enjoyable for the local community to use. Armed with litter pickers, rubbish bags and gloves the 20-strong group challenged themselves to clear as much litter as they could in an hour. Afterwards, the Scouts had an opportunity to visit the new development to learn about the construction of the site and careers in the industry. Metis Homes has also donated £500 towards the cost of a new bell tent for the growing group’s future expeditions. METIS HOMES SUPPORTS LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL

West Meon Primary School recently launched a safety campaign within their school, educating and creating awareness for children to keep safe when out walking.

West Meon, a quintessential village with narrow winding roads and restricted pavements that West Meon Primary School, being nestled in the heart of the village, know only too well. Julie Kelly the Head Teacher at West Meon Primary School commented; “We are very grateful that Metis Homes have generously provided us with enough vests for every child and members of staff to wear, replacing our depleted and somewhat dated stock of vests. We regularly take the children to our sports facilities on the village fields and our nature reserve on the edge of the village and now with these new vests printed with our school logo, we can ensure the safety of our children when walking across the roads.”

Metis Homes were invited to attend the school’s ‘Be Bright and Be Seen’ assembly where the team from Metis Homes had the opportunity to meet the children and hand out their vests in the playground.

Funding a community hall in Barnham

A strong partnership between Metis Homes and Barnham Parish Council in West Sussex resulted in the village achieving its goal of building a brand new state-of-the-art community hall.  By buying the land of the existing parish hall ready for development, Metis Homes contributed to and forward financed the funding needed to build a £1 million community centre with a range of improved facilities.

The White Hart

In Dorchester, the site of Metis Homes' Eastgate development was once occupied by the White Hart pub, which dated back to 1895 and features in a short story by Thomas Hardy.  Appreciating its significance to the local community, we incorporated the iconic white hart statue, which once stood above the pub entrance, into the scheme.
