Metis Homes Complete 10 Week Wellbeing Challenge
The Metis Homes team has completed a 10-week wellbeing challenge which raised £5,017 for a variety of charities chosen by the team, and £150 for local charity Mountbatten Hospice.
The 10 week challenge and fundraising efforts were led by Fiona Woodham, Construction Administrator at Metis Homes, as part of the company’s wider wellbeing initiative and commitments.
Fiona Woodham said: “Each day over the ten weeks, participants were challenged to take part in three activities a day, which incorporated mental, physical and nutritious wellbeing. This could include drinking two litres of water a day, walking or running in their lunch break, healthy eating, meditation and reading.
“In addition to that, they also completed a weekly reflection where they could nominate a member of the team to either take part in their challenge with them, or simply recognise their support. This was a great way to get the team together, as well as enlightening them on the importance of mental, physical, and nutritious wellbeing, and how to apply it into their working day.”
A point was earnt for each challenge which was the equivalent to money, with the total points being added up at the end of the 10 weeks. All in all the 10 week challenge had 31 participants working towards points, with an epic £5,017 raised!
Each of the participants were then able to donate to their chosen charity with the points and money they had accumulated. Some of the charities individuals chose to donate their proceeds to included: Dementia UK, The British Diabetic Association, Cancer Research, The Horse Trust, and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
The team marked the end of the challenge with a sponsored team walk, originally due to be completed during Mental Health Week in May, which was followed by a lovely pub lunch with all of the team. Each member of staff donated £10, with the money going to Mountbatten Hospice.
