Metis Homes appoints Strategic Land Manager

Metis Homes is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Maphosa as Strategic Land Manager. Joe will be based in the company’s new head office in Fair Oak.

Prior to joining Metis Homes, Joe was Senior Planning Manager at Drew Smith, the regional division of Vistry Partnerships for the South of England. At Drew Smith, Joe helped to build the strategic land portfolio of that company and provided internal planning advice on potential acquisitions, contract tendering opportunities and development sites. He also maintained a regional overview of planning policy across his business unit’s operating area and undertook viability appraisals, instructed and managed consultants, and prepared and submitted applications for developments sites.

Before that, Joe was a Strategic Planner for Persimmon Homes, where he dealt primarily with major residential applications, land searches and the promotion of strategic sites. Joe also made representations on development plan documents. One of his major projects was researching, and responding to, the nitrate neutrality issue affecting the Solent through a thorough engagement process with senior local planning officers. Joseph has also held roles at Shrimplin Brown Planning and Development, and at Fareham Borough Council. Joseph holds a BA (Hons) Architecture degree from the Portsmouth School of Architecture and an MSc Spatial Planning (Urban Design Specialism) from Oxford Brookes University.

It has been a very productive time for our business in recent months with the completion of a number of successful developments in the region. In addition, we are building out new schemes in both Liphook and Eastleigh, and have formed an exciting partnership on three sites owned by the Cowdray Estate. We are now seeking to expand our land activities and are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of our new Strategic Land Manager, Joe Maphosa. Joe brings the desirable skills of an accomplished town planner to Metis Homes’ land and planning team, which include strategic planning and experience in architecture. As a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Joe has relevant experience in local government and consultancy and has also worked on the client side. Metis Homes will benefit from Joe’s understanding of and ability to leverage differing stakeholder drivers to arrive at consensus‐driven outcomes.
