Metis Homes Opens Doors to Show Home at Forest Edge Development, Fordingbridge

Hampshire-based Metis Homes has opened the doors to the show home at its flagship development, Forest Edge. Located in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, the £21.5m scheme comprises 63 houses and apartments.

Located on the outskirts of the picturesque riverside town, at the northern gateway to the New Forest, over 40% of the Forest Edge homes have already been sold off plan. A range of two-bedroom apartments, priced from £300,000, and four-bedroom detached family homes priced from £610,000, are currently on release, in advance of build completion dates scheduled for autumn 2023. A selection of phase two homes are now also released for sale.

The show home is the Elm design - a spacious three-bedroom house, with contemporary interiors styled by In House Design Co. The colour palette follows a forest theme, featuring muted tones of off-whites, beiges and striking feature walls, including a dark grey wall in the kitchen and an olive-green wall in the second bedroom. Texture has been added in the form of various wooden elements, including pieces of furniture and art. Furnishings, including cushions and pillows, have been selected to add a pop of colour throughout the home.

The Elm occupies a corner plot on the development. The open plan layout features a large kitchen/diner, with a living room running adjacent across the entrance hall. There is also built-in storage and a downstairs cloakroom. The first floor leads onto a principal bedroom, with built-in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom. There is a family bathroom, second double bedroom, and a third smaller bedroom - perfect for a home office space, or child’s bedroom.

Internal specification features for the new homes include fibre broadband, and all flooring included, which is from a range of Karndean luxury vinyl flooring and premium carpet choices. Bathrooms feature contemporary sanitaryware and complementary Porcelanosa wall and floor tiles, while the designer kitchens have integrated white goods and Neff cooking appliances. All principal bedrooms feature built-in wardrobes, while the four-bedroom homes also benefit from built-in wardrobes to bedroom two. 

On completion, the unique development will have an abundance of green open spaces including two play areas and a purpose designed dog agility course, all surrounded by mature woodland trees. Footpaths leading to inspiring New Forest walks can be joined right from the development boundary. The traditional architecture and red brick elevations of the houses and apartments are inspired by the local vernacular. 

The 63 homes at Forest Edge are designed to achieve an EPC rating of B, with benefits including electric vehicle charging points, high levels of insulation and thermal efficiency, and green mortgages offering more favourable rates. The four-bedroom houses have the added benefit of solar PV panels, which will enable the future residents to generate a proportion of their own electricity use, significantly lowering their carbon footprint.

Travel beyond Fordingbridge is convenient, with the A338 located within easy reach. Salisbury is 12 miles north, while Southampton is 22 miles to the east. Bournemouth Airport and the coastal towns of Bournemouth and Christchurch are located 18 miles south. A bus stop is conveniently located within a few minutes’ walk of the development.
